Transition Committee Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Augustine Uroye says Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan “has not taken a dime from the monthly Federal Allocations of Local Government Councils in the State”.

The Warri South Council boss made the declaration Tuesday August 12 at the Conference Hall of Warri South Council Main Secretariat during a brief meeting he held with Management and Staff of the Council.

According to Dr. Uroye, Governor Uduaghan has added to the monthly Federal Allocations to Local Government Councils in the state to augment the shortfall occasioned by the global economic meltdown.

While commending the State President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade David Ofoeyeno for his vital role in appealing to the state government to source for alternative fund to offset the salary arrears of Local Government Workers in the State, Dr. Uroye noted that for over a year now the excess crude fund has not been shared by the Federal Government due to the current economic crunch.

He promised that as a result of the special intervention by Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the remaining salary arrears of staff of Local Government Councils that are hit by the revenue shortfall will be cleared within a week, and enjoined staff of Warri South Council to remain committed to their duties.

Responding on behalf of staffers of Warri South Local Government Council, the branch Chairman of NULGE, Comrade Godfrey Affor Maku thanked Management for its efforts toward ensuring that the salary arrears of staff are cleared.

Comrade Maku also commended Staff of the Council for their dedication during the period of salary delay and pledged the resolve of staff to co-operate with Management towards effective service delivery.

Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council Transition Committee, Mr. Dafe Ikpuri, Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Eugene Ebisin and Treasurer to the Local Government, Mr. Santos Ogobri were among executive members of the Council that attended the meeting.
