Auchi: Suspected kidnappers on army uniform kill Mopol over his attempt to rescue foreign abductee

Tragedy struck Tuesday July 5 at the gate of Federal Polytechnic Auchi in Edo Stateat exactly 9:15am when suspected kidnappers dressed in army uniform kill a mobile policeman who attempted to rescue a foreigner in their custody.

Our Auchi Polytechnic Correspondentreports that the mobile policeman who accompanied a vehicle conveying goodsfrom a destination not known as at press time noticed a Hilux van carrying aWhiteman (foreigner) along Benin-Abuja expressway. The foreigner who was incompany of 5 suspected kidnappers dressed in army uniform tried to escape fromthe Hilux van on sighting the presence of students and other passersby whilethe Hilux van was trapped in an hold up. It was the uneasy battle the foreignerwhose mouth was shut by the suspected kidnappers was having with his abductorsthat drew the attention of the unidentified mobile policeman who came out ofthe vehicle conveying the goods he was escorting.

Eye witnesses sayimmediately the mobile policeman came out with the intention of wanting torescue the foreigner that the suspected kidnappers shot him thrice and he diedinstantly.

The kidnappers afterkilling the brave mobile policeman zoomed off with their foreign abductee viaSabo road South Ibie in Auchi, Edo State before a policerescue team in the town arrived the scene.

As at the time offiling this report, the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained butthe police authorities in Auchi are said to be investigating the situation.

The killing of themobile policeman has left students and residents of the area in apparent fear.
