Ex-prison inmate stabs man to death, cuts another on the face


An alleged habitual criminal who was once remanded at Ogwashi-Uku prison in Delta State for manslaughter, Loveth ThankGod Akiti has reportedly stabbed one Uche Nwaorie (male) to death and used cutlass to attack a certain Friday Nwankwo on his face, Fresh Angle can authoritatively report.

 Report says the incident which occurred at about 22:45 hours on August 17, at Ominigboma camp along the same camp road near Asaba was reported to the police at ‘B’ Division, Asaba by one Amaechi Nwankwo who is a brother to the two victims.

Fresh Angle gathered that based on the report, detectives commenced investigation and arrested the suspect, Loveth ThankGod Akiti at Power-line Camp, Oko in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State with the assistance of local vigilante in the area.

According to the Delta State Police Command, the suspect has confessed to the crime, while the corpse of Uche Nwaorie has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre Morgue, Asaba for autopsy and the case has been transferred to Department of Criminal Investigation, Asaba for further investigation.

The injured victim, Friday Nwankwo is said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Meanwhile, the Police in Delta State have also arrested a 22-year old Fulani, Shehu Sani for allegedly snatching a bag from one Bateren Okiotodoro after stabbing him on the back with a dagger.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, Shehu Sani accosted Bateren Okiotodoro (male) and Nkem Egwuonwu (female) at Sabon Kasua Market, Asaba, threatened them and stabbed Bateren Okiodoro after he resisted the order.

It was gathered that Nkem Egwuonwu, the other victim of Shehu Sani recognized him and raised alarm which attracted CPI. Thompson Eniya and a team attached to Department of Operations, Asaba who were on duty at NNPC filling station along Asaba/Benin expressway to the scene.

The corporal quickly alerted ‘B’ Division Police Station, Asaba and detectives were dispatched to the scene.

The victim however gave up the ghost while he was being rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Fresh Angle learnt that in an effort to effect the immediate arrest of the fleeing suspect, detectives the same night raided the area during which the suspect, Shehu Sani was fished out and arrested through the cooperation of the Fulani Community in the area.

The suspect has reportedly confessed to the crime and mentioned one Shagari Usman (male) who has been arrested as his accomplice.
