Indulge in positive ventures, Ibobor advises youths


Youths have been advised to indulge in positive ventures so as to be self-reliant and contribute meaningfully towards the growth and development of the society.

The Coordinator and Founder of Umuebu Neighbourhood House (UNH), Dr. Ofili Ibobor gave the advice in Umuebu in Ukwuani Local Government Area during the grand finale of the Umuebu Neighbourhood House Community Development Soccer competition.

Dr. Ibobor said that the Neighbourhood House had provided grassroots sports for children and youths in the community since 2010, adding that UNH had continued to draw on community soccer to build a sense of gender equality and social solidarity in the community.

While commending the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for his personal passion in the development of sports, which according to him had impacted positively on the performance of the Delta-born Blessing Okagbare who is the female 200m winner in the just concluded Commonwealth Games, he lauded the uncommon determination of the Favour Football Club and Great United Football Club of Umuebu for winning the 2014 female and male categories respectively for the 2014.

Dr. Ibobor recalled that in 2012, Ogbe-Iso children Football Club won the maiden edition of the competition.

Earlier, the PDP Chairmanship aspirant for Ukwuani Local Government Area, Mrs. Benedicta Ndudi Osakunih-Iuegu, who is the former DESOPADEC representative for Ukwuani and the Director of Sports, University of Benin, Mrs. F.I Egbasi described sports as a strong unifying factor and enjoined youths to always discover their talents early enough.

On their part, the PDP House of Representative aspirant for Owan Constituency, Edo State, Hon. Otis Idahosa and Chairmanship aspirant for Ovia South Local Government Area of Edo State, Dr. Lucky Onekpema thanked the Coordinator of the Umuebu Neighbourhood House, Dr. Ofili Ibobor for engaging in community development through sports.
