The Transition Committee Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Delta State, Dr. Augustine Uroye has sued for the corporation of community leaders toward the successful execution of Millennium Development Goals, MDGs, projects in the Local Government, warning that any benefiting community that frustrate the projects will lose it to another community.
Dr. Uroye made the declaration Wednesday September 10 at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri while addressing Community Leaders on the next phase of MDGs’ projects soon to be awarded in the Local Government Area.
The Warri South Council boss who was flanked by his Vice, Mr. Dafe Ikpuri, Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Eugene Ebisin, the MDGs Technical Assistant for Warri South Local Government, Barr. Dennis Benni, explained that the choice of projects to be executed by the MDGs in the Local Government from January 2015 were arrived at after a survey and due consultation with leaders of the benefiting communities.
According to Dr. Uroye, projects cutting across healthcare, education, procurement of power plants as well as perimeter fencing will be executed by the MDGs in riverine and Urban Communities of Obodo, Ukpokiti, Aja-Solo, Orere-Oluba, Omadino, Ode-Itsekiri, Ugbodede, Ugbuwangue, Alders Town School of the Deaf and Dumb, Ajamimogha, Edjeba and Eboh with a view to tackling urgent basic needs of people of the area.
He solicited for the corporation of leaders of the benefiting communities once the project execution kicks off and appealed to communities that are not beneficiaries of the next phase of MDGs projects to be patient, stressing that all communities can not benefit simultaneously.
Responding on behalf of other community leaders present, Secretary of Ugbuwangue Community, Mr. Solomon Ojobor, assured the Warri South Council boss that they will corporate with the MDGs to ensure that the projects are successfully executed to the highest standards.
