As we mark Our 54th Independence Anniversary as a Nation, I Chief Ayirimi Emami, The AjuwaOyiboyami of Warri Kingdom A.K.A. Akulagba, Chief Convener of Delta United For Tony Obuh and President Goodluck Jonathan’s Re-election, DUF, Frontline Crusader of Niger Delta People and Chieftain of the PDP, on behalf of myself, family, political associates as well as my followers, heartily felicitate with all Nigerians, on this historic occasion.
As we march towards greatness in the history of Our Dear Nation, it is imperative that we use this period of our celebration to reflect deeply on how to sustain the unity in diversity of Nigeria and ensure her steady ride towards the path of prosperity and development.
I have my initial reservations against the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, especially because of the following:
.The killing of Itsekiris by the Ijaws during the Warri crisis which culminated into Niger Delta Struggle.
.The Presidency was initially used to fight ex-Niger Delta Governors like Chief James Onanefe Ibori, Chief Lucky Igbinedion and Chief Dipreye Alamieyeeseigha.
.The erstwhile poor state of the East-West Road
. The Ocean Surge of the Riverine areas in the Niger Delta occasioned by Lack of Shore Protection.
· The Non Inclusion of Niger Delta people whose communities have the oil and gas deposits in the Oil Sector, a sector which I have vested interest.
But I have since reviewed my position about President Goodluck Jonathan and his government and thereafter become an advocate of President Goodluck Jonathan's re-election due to the following reasons:
· There is now a better understanding and relative peace between Ijaws and Itsekiris of Delta State.
. President Goodluck Jonathan's determined efforts to fight the insurgency headlong following the killing of innocent Nigerians and the abduction of over 200 Chibok girls for political reasons in the guise of religious struggle is quiet pleasing, because some of us have been against these senseless killings.
. Mr. President has now realized how important our ex-Niger Delta governors are to the political struggle of the region, hence the incorporation of Chief Dipreye Alamieyeseigha and others in the mainstream political activities and it is my belief that Chief James Onanefe Ibori would soon return home to carry on the Niger Delta political struggle with the help of our amiable President Goodluck Jonathan.
· The impressive progress of work on the East-West Road ·
The Dredging of the Excravos Bar, which Consultancy Work has been approved by the Federal Executive Council.
.The EPZ Project at Ogidigben, Excravos, Warri South-West Local Government Area ·
.The on-going construction of the long anticipated Koko-Ogeye Road Project.
· President Goodluck Jonathan’s 54th Independence anniversary speech of hope is also another reassuring reason why all Nigerians, including my humble self, need to back his re-election.
I am also excited to note that the re-election of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2015 will ultimately guarantee the following amongst others:
· Actualization of the Ogidigben Export Processing Zone, EPZ Project, Nigeria Maritime University, NMU, The NIMASA Dockyard and Shipyard Project, all in the oil rich Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Apart from creating massive jobs and building the capacity of people of the Niger Delta and its indigenous contractors, these tripod projects like other on-going ones embarked upon in the Region by the Jonathan administration, will create allied industries in the country and greatly help to develop the coastal communities.
·It is on record that the rail industry which had hitherto gone comatose in the country is being revitalized and becoming fully functional. The resultant effect is the boosting of commercial activities across the country, while the cost of transportation of goods and services will soon witness downward slide.
· The commissioning of the 1st phase of Benin-Sagamu road amongst other intra and intercity roads embarked upon by the Jonathan administration is another big plus of the current administration.
· The re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 will not just guarantee the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, but will ensure its full implementation which will ultimately tap into the full potential of our massive gas reserve as well as huge crude oil deposit and subsequently transform the oil and gas bearing communities to modern mega cities.
· It is on record that the President Jonathan administration in just four years has created millions of jobs to our teaming youths through the ‘YOU WIN’ AND Agricultural Programmes. His re-election can only continue to improve on that and tackle the rate of youth unemployment.
· No doubt, the twin bedrock of industrial growth of any Nation lies in steady power and solid agricultural development. It is in line with this that the Jonathan administration privatized the country’s power sector and has only recently promised to give bailout to the power firms with a view to ensuring improved power supply in the country. A re-election of President Jonathan is the only assurance of growth in the power sector.
· Apart from the renewed vigour in tackling insurgency in the country, the Jonathan administration needs continuity to consolidate on the religious and regional harmony it is currently building.
· President Jonathan’s re-election in 2015 will continually stabilize the polity and ensure continuous growth in our Petroleum Sector.
· His administration has carefully and faithfully implemented the post Amnesty Programme for ex-Niger Delta militants.
WHY TONY OBUH SHOULD BE THE NEXT GOVERNOR OF DELTA STATE.
· As a proven technocrat and academic, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s efforts in developing all parts of the country, especially Delta State, requires the complimentary effort of another seasoned technocrat in the person of Tony Chuks Obuh.
· Election of Mr. Tony Chuks Obuh will sustain the PDP policy of power sharing/ rotation, particularly as it affects Delta State governorship.
· Mr. Tony Obuh’s pivotal role in the Delta Beyond Oil Agenda of the Uduaghan
administration with emphasis on investment in agriculture is another reason why he should be the next governor of Delta State at the expiration of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s tenure.
· Mr. Obuh’s detribalized posture bolstered by his several years of interfacing with Deltans from all ethnic divides is another vital reason why he should be elected as the next governor of Delta State come 2015.
· He is a bridge between the old and upcoming generation of Deltans.
· Mr. Tony Obuh’s Civil Service background will help in effectively managing our scarce resources.
MY PASSIONATE APPEAL TO PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN:
· Mr. President, I want to strongly appeal that you should use your revered and exalted office to allow those companies (firms) which bought OML 4, 26, 30,34,38,41 and 42 to operate the facilities like the way SEPLAT is doing because NPDC is not capable.
· I want to equally plead with Mr. President to fix a definite date for the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Export Processing Zone, EPZ Ogidigben, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State because it has been long awaited by people of the region.
…Wishing the FIRST FAMILY and all Nigerians, especially Deltans a Happy 54th Independence Anniversary Celebration.
