The police at Ugborikoko Police Station, Effurun in Delta State have arrested three armed robbery suspects: Peter Sunday, Collins Sakutu and Princewell Idiemuagele during a raid at Delta Palace Hotel, Airport Road, Effurun, Fresh Angle International has learnt.
The suspects were apprehended in connection with a reported theft of jewelries, handsets, ATM cards, voters’ cards, passport photographs, wrist watches and other valuables estimated at eight hundred and fourteen thousand, two hundred and fifty naira (N 814,250.00).
According to a police statement released by ASP Roland Preston for Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, the three armed men invaded the house of one David Sunday and Oluwakemi Monica, female in Jeddo town, Okpe Local Government Area and allegedly robbed their victims at gun point.
Items reportedly recovered from the suspects include assorted jewelries, five different handsets, eight wrist watches, one kitchen knife, ATM cards, voters’ cards, passports, twelve sim cards of different networks, clothes, shoes, bags and a rap of dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
The police statement added that victims of the robbery have identified the recovered items as properties robbed from them, even as the suspects are said to be undergoing preliminary investigation at Orerokpe Division of the Nigerian Police.
Meanwhile, a 25-year old suspected cultist, Alex Obukowho believed to be a member of a 50-man cult group/political thugs that allegedly chased away DSIEC officials as well voters and destroyed some electoral materials during Saturday October 25 Local Government poll have been picked by the police.
Obukowho and other members of his gang allegedly invaded wards/units 15, 16, 17 and 19 at Orhuwohorun Primary School in Ovwian Aladja during accreditation of voters, armed with battle axes, cutlasses and gallons of fuel. The police are presently on the trail of other members of the cult group.
