The Police in Delta State have revealed why some unidentified Fulani herdsmen in the morning of Sunday November 2, 2014 invaded a Delta Community, Umuachi-Afor in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, blaming the incidence on an alleged seizure of a prohibited fire arm from an unknown Fulani cattle rearer by one Frank Odili.
According to a Police statement released by ASP. Roland Preston for Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, the refusal of Frank Odili whose where-about is presently unknown to return the seized fire arm to the cattle rearer made the Fulani herdsmen to invade the community, shooting sporadically and in the process abducted one 42-year old Florence Onwuka, Chukwudi Onwuka, Innocent Ndego and Nwabuaku Benin Chukwu, 24-year old and took them to unknown destination.
The statement further revealed that during the invasion, one Ossai Oluem, 18-year old was allegedly shot dead, while large sums of money were stolen by the said invaders.
Men of the force reportedly visited the scene of the crime and removed the deceased’s corpse to St. Luke Mortuary, Kwale for autopsy. The Police action is sequel to a report by Honourable London Onwuka who came in-company of two others.
The abducted persons have been released by their captors, while efforts are being mounted by the Police to arrest the fleeing attackers.
