Edo lawmakers task Oshiomhole over casual workers’ protest
Governor Adams Oshiomhole

The PDP faction of Edo State House of Assembly has challenged Governor Adams Oshiomhole to pay the six months salary arrears the State Government is owing casual workers of Stella Obasanjo Hospital and Central Hospital Benin or face continued strike action.

The factional speaker of the House, Honourable Festus Ebea made the declaration during an interview with Newsmen in Benin City, Edo State.

According to Honourable Ebea, the N15 million per day the governor allegedly gets as security vote can be used to pay the protesting workers who have vowed to continue their protests and disrupt activities in the hospitals until their N10, 000 monthly wages were paid.

Other lawmakers who spoke in the same vein said the governor who was the number one labour leader in the country for almost eight years, fought other state governors against casualizing workers in Nigeria as NLC National President is now melting out same ill treatment to workers in the state.

It would be recalled that the casual workers of the Edo State owned hospitals recently disrupted activities of the hospitals, thereby preventing all health workers and patients from gaining access to the hospital complexes, leading to the closure of the hospitals.
