Nineteen newly elected Councilors in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State have been sworn-in at the council secretariat in Bomadi, with a charge on them to imbibe Democratic Norms and Values in the discharge of their legislative duties.
Our Bomadi Correspondent reports that the ceremony witnessed a huge turnout of people who came to felicitate with the newly elected Chairman, Hon. (Chief) Oluwole Karetimi and the Councilors.
Performing the ceremony, the new council boss, Hon. Oluwole Karetimi enjoined the newly sworn-in lawmakers to work tirelessly towards promoting effective administration through making quality by-laws that will impact positively on the lives of the people.
Hon. Karetimi also admonished the lawmakers to work as a team to ensure the progress of their individual constituencies and the Local Government Area as a whole.
While thanking the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan for the successful conduct of the just concluded Local Government poll in the state, Karetimi charged the councilors to see their offices as an opportunity to add value to the lives of the people and advised them to uphold the public trust as entrusted to them through the electoral mandate.
Administering the oath, the new Council Chairman maintained, “we must not fail our people. You should work as a team to propagate and implement the Delta State Beyond Oil Policy so that we can bring to bear the economic benefits in our Local Government”, even as he reiterated his resolve to run an all-inclusive government.
Responding on behalf of other councilors, Hon. Clifford Labo, representing ward 10 while thanking the council boss promised that they will work in unity with him, adding that they will not work at cross purpose with the executive.
Our Bomadi Correspondent also reports that immediately after they were sworn in, the councilors held their first session to perform their constitutional duty by electing their Leader and Deputy who were guided by the Clark of the House, Samson Odaderia.
The member representing ward 16, Hon. Innocent Akpoyibo moved the motion for the nomination of Hon. Zidideke August as Leader of the House. He was seconded by Oyaebuagha Carter, the member representing ward 15. In the absence of no opposition, the Clark of the House declared Hon. Zidideke August the Leader of the House.
In the same vein, Hon. Sylva Omi was elected the Deputy Leader of the House before Members adjourned sitting to a later date.

Seleoge Tom, ward 9, Clifford Labo, ward 10, Mekeru Ebikeme-ere, ward 11, Silva Omi, ward 12, Amassuomor Sunny, ward 13, Amamieneye Adaka, ward 14, Oyaebugha Carter, ward 15, Innocent Akpoyibo, ward 16, Amabiri Donald, ward17, Lawyer Akpodese, ward 18 as well as Hon. Raymond Bozimo, ward 19.
