He is no longer member of our party– APC Ward Chairman, Onoja disowns Ex-Governor Audu’s Son

The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC in Kogi State, has taken a new twist with the Ward Chairman in Ogbonicha, under Ofu Local Government Area of the state, Peter Onoja, saying son of former Kogi State Governor, Prince Mustapha Mona Audu, is no longer a member of the party.

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the APC Ward Chairman, Peter Onoja, made the declaration Tuesday November 30, during a press conference held at the party’s secretariat in Lokoja.

Onoja, distanced members of APC from the parallel Caretaker Committee formed by Prince Abubakar Audu’s son, under the platform of Progressive Youth Movement, PYM.

According to him, Prince Audu neglected the APC and failed to revalidate his membership of the party at his polling unit, “as required of all law abiding members”, during the APC Nationwide Registration and Revalidation exercise this year.

Onoja, emphasized that as a result of Prince Audu allegedly failing to revalidate his membership, his name was struck out from the register of the APC at his Obonicha Ward in Ofu Local Government of Kogi State.

He said: "Some unscrupulous individuals organized a Press Conference in Abuja on Monday 29th November, 2021, where the amorphous group, claimed to have formed a parallel Caretaker Committee of our Great Party (APC) under an unknown platform called Progressive Youth Movement (PYM).

"In view of this ugly development, the Ogbonicha Ward, Ofu LGA Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, wishes to state emphatically as follows; that Prince Mustapha Mona Audu, has long ceased to be a member of our Great Party, the All Progressives Congress in Ogbonicha Ward, Ofu LGA.

"The said Prince Mustapha Mona Audu, who was disqualified by the Primaries’ Screening Committee for the 2019 Kogi State Gubernatorial Election, for failing to meet the basic constitutional requirements, has since boycotted the party”.

Recall that a factional APC, Progressive Youth Movement (PYM) on Monday November 29, announced the disbandment of the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee of the APC.

The youths, also named Senate President Ahmad Lawan and House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila into the new CECPC as representatives of the National Assembly.

The purported new leadership was saddled with the mandate to conduct the party’s National convention slated for February 26, 2022.
