Sylvester Oromoni: Tenumah demands prosecution of authorities of Dowen College
Sylvester Oromoni (Jnr.)

Female rights' crusader and former President of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG, Alero Naomi Tenumah, has demanded for the immediate prosecution of authorities of Dowen College, Lekki in Lagos State, saying temporal shutdown of the school is not enough, considering the controversial circumstances leading to the death of Delta State - born Sylvester Oromoni (Jnr.).

A deeply angry Alero Tenumah, who spoke to Fresh Angle International this morning, Saturday December 4 on telephone, declared: "The manner in which an unnamed management staff of Dowen College, Lekki, according to Punch Newspaper report, quickly brushed aside the death of the 12 - year old Sylvester Oromoni, who refused to join cult and suffered severe injuries during a failed initiation (blending) and went on the link Oromoni's gruesome death to a so called injury sustained on the leg during a football game, speaks of complicity and fruitless attempt to hide evil in a country, where the dominated youthful population are daily exposed to negative vices."

She continued: "Does it make sense to ascribe the death of a 12 - year old boy to leg injury, sustained in a football game, when the same person was reportedly rushed to the hospital early enough? Why is the management of Dowen College, Lekki, so hasty in dismissing the testimony that Sylvester Oromoni's gory death is connected to failed attempt to blend him into a cult gang, when Oromoni reportedly told family relations before his death that he was severely beaten by members of a cult gang, for refusing to accept membership? Why did the school management not wait for the outcome of police investigation, before making a nonchalant claim as regards the circumstances of Oromoni's death?"

While also calling for the arrest and prosecution of the five students reportedly mentioned by Sylvester Oromoni before his death, as members of the cult gang responsible for beating him during the cult initiation, Tenumah called on parents, members of the civil society and other stakeholders, not to relent until justice is seen to have been served on the death of Sylvester Oromoni.

"If justice is not served early enough and everyone responsible for Sylvester's death is not dealt with accordingly, we will flood the streets of Lagos and other cities in Nigeria in protests", she enthused.
