Omadino graduates describe Governor Okowa’s alleged abandonment of Technical College in Omadino as unfair, unequitable treatment

Graduates of Omadino Community in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State under the aegis of Omadino Graduates’ Forum, OGF, have described the alleged award and abandonment of a technical college project in Omadino by the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa led Delta State Government as “unfair and unequitable treatment to the people of Omadino, despite being peaceful and allowing free flow of oil and gas in their land”.

In a communique made available to Fresh Angle International, Wednesday December 8, after an emergency meeting, OGF, expressed dismay over what they described as: “The deliberate marginalization of the people of Omadino in Warri Kingdom, Warri South Local Government Area by His Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa”.

The communique signed by the Chairman and Secretary of Omadino Graduates Forum, OGF, Comrade James Odume and Jim Omagbemi Okeh, respectively, added: “We have patiently waited to see if Omadino would benefit from the road and other infrastructural projects initiated by Dr. Okowa administration, to no avail. None has been executed in Omadino Community or the three (3) Itsekiri Warri Local Government Areas at large.

“Omadino Community is a major stakeholder in the state, in relation to the production quantum of crude oil and other mineral resources. This, in saner climes with a viable working system, would have translated to development, where priority is given to the 'Hen' which lays the golden egg, but the reverse has been the case with your administration. This singular trait, taints your Excellency's administration with ethnic coloration.

"Your Excellency, our position and assertions are visible to the blind and audible to the deaf, in the area of state technical schools, awarded to be constructed in the three (3) Senatorial Districts of the state and your Excellency has deliberately denied the Omadino people from making the list of the Phase One schools to be commissioned.

"This deliberate exclusion, is what we have considered as an unfair treatment to Warri South Local Government Area and the Omadino people. We have thought that the more reasonable thing to do, would have been to give priority to Warri South Local Government Area and the Omadino people, since it is on record and glaring that there is no state owned tertiary institution in the Omadino area.

"Your Excellency, your administration has rather decided to give priority to a local government that contributes next to little or nothing to the state in terms of revenue, the same having several already established tertiary institutions. This same Local Government Area, has been listed as a beneficiary of the first phase of the project to be commissioned.

"It is on this note, that we are vehemently calling your attention to this gross marginalisation and appealing in the same vein to your good conscience and office, to look into the following to wit:

"1. That the technical school in the Omadino Community, be considered as a matter of urgency to be executed and commissioned among the second phase of school project, before your Excellency bows out of office in the year 2023.

"2. That your Excellency being the "Road Master", should consider awarding the construction of internal roads in Omadino as a means of developing the community.

"We hope that in the spirit of fairness and equity, your Excellency would consider our position and grievances in good faith".
