Police reports how hotelier aided escape of suspects, who kidnapped Benin based Pastor

The Delta State Police Command, has reported how an hotelier (name undisclosed) in Oghareki, Delta State, allegedly aided the escape of two of the three suspects, who allegedly abducted a Benin City based Pastor (name withheld) on Sunday January 9.

 

According to a statement sent to Fresh Angle International, at about midday today, Tuesday January 11, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP. Bright Edafe, the Police team from Oghara Division, received information from the DPO New Etete Division in Benin City, Edo State, that a Pastor was kidnapped along with his Lexus 330 SUV with Reg. No KWL 510 BH Black in colour. After a painstaking technical intelligence led investigation, the Police gathered that the vehicle was parked along Ibori Road in Oghara.

 

The DPO Oghara Division, led operatives to the area, where the said vehicle was sighted. Upon sighting the Vehicle, the Operatives laid ambush and waited for the suspects to show up. Three men later appeared to pick the vehicle and the Operatives rounded them up, but two of the suspects escaped, while one of them named, Osagie Felix (male) age 36 of H & H Ologbo in Edo State, was arrested.

The said Osagie Felix, upon interrogation, allegedly confessed to being a member of the kidnapping syndicate that kidnapped the Benin based Pastor.

 

The DPO Oghara Division CSP Jimoh Hassan, who acted on information scooped from Osagie Felix and carried him along in the operation, led Operatives to a certain Freedom View Hotel in Oghareki, where the three kidnap suspects were allegedly hibernating. Upon arrival at the hotel, the owner of the hotel, reportedly aided escape of the other two suspects.

 

Osagie Felix, led operatives to his room in the hotel and upon search, one cut-to-size double barrel pistol, six live cartridges and the sum of four hundred and ten thousand naira (N410,000)  which was part of a five hundred thousand naira (N 500,000) ransom were recovered.

 

He also led the operatives to a different room, where another double barrel pistol, ten live cartridges and a laptop were also recovered. The victim’s vehicle, was also recovered to the station, even as serious manhunt for the fleeing suspects was said to be ongoing as at press time.
