Fallout of Skirmish at Ugbuwangue Market: Security personnel get mandate to arrest anyone engaging in illicit business

Security Chiefs serving in Warri, have been given the mandate by the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area in Delta State, Dr. Michael .E. Tidi, to arrest anyone engaging in illicit business in Ugbuwangue Market, Warri, even as investigation revealed that the skirmish that occurred Monday night, January 10, between few traders of Hausa extraction and pockets of youths in Ugbuwangue Market, had no ethnic colouration.

 

Your Soaring International Tabloid, can authoritatively report that Dr. Tidi gave the mandate Wednesday January 12, after an emergency peace and security meeting held at his Office in Warri South Local Government Council Main Secretariat, Warri.

 

The security meeting was attended by security chiefs, representatives of Ugbuwangue Community, representatives of Hausa Traders in Ugbuwangue and other relevant officials of Warri South Local Government Council.

While warning that henceforth anyone caught trying to cause crisis in Ugbuwangue Community will be dealt with according to the law, the Warri South Chief Security Officer, noted: “Security men have been directed to move into the community and arrest anyone engaging in unlawful practices in the area”.

 

The Warri South Council Boss, urged everyone doing legitimate businesses in Ugbuwangue to go about their businesses and called on people of Ugbuwangue and traders of Hausa extraction, to maintain peace in the community.

 

Representatives of Ugbuwangue Community and the traders of Hausa extraction, who attended the meeting, resolved to maintain peace and order, going forward.

 

Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, Achi J. Harry 2IC Area Command, Warri, AB Otong of the DSS, LT. MT Nimfa of the Army, CSP TY Mahmud, DPO ‘A’ Division, Warri, Chairman of Hausa traders in Ugbuwangue Market, Musa Yunusa, the Secretary; Muhammad Muktar, the head of Community Development and Information Department, Warri South Local Government Council, Mrs. Ukuko Tosan Ruth and the youth Chairman of Ugbuwangue Community, Ayomike Skinn, were among those present during the emergency security meeting.
