Death of Chief Isaac Jemide: Delta Assembly commiserates with family, Itsekiri nation

The Delta State House of Assembly has commiserated with the Jemide family, and the Itsekiri nation over the demise of Chief Isaac Jemide, the Oshodi of Warri kingdom.

Chief Jemide was a member of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly between 1979 and 1983, and later Commissioner Representing Delta State in the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, OMPADEC.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Sherrif Oborevwori, during Tuesday’s plenary, on behalf of the state legislature, expressed the condolences of the House to the family of late Chief Jemide and the Itsekiri nation over the loss.

 

He directed the Member Representing Warri South 1 Constituency, Hon Austin Uroye to liaise with the House on the burial rites of the ex-lawmaker.

Hon Uroye had at plenary brought to the notice of the House, the demise of Chief Isaac Jemide at the age of 88, stressing that the entire Itsekiri nation was mourning the departure of the great leader.

 

He stated “Mr Speaker, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the demise of a foremost democrat in the state, Chief Isaac Jemide who went to be with his ancestors on Sunday, 12th December 2021. Late Isaac Jemide was a Lawyer and served the Itsekiri nation and Delta State in several capacities”.

“In his life time, Mr Speaker, late Jemide was a member of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly, former Commissioner in the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, OMPADEC, representing Delta State and a member of the rotary club. He was the Oshodi of Warri kingdom”.

 

Mr Speaker, my colleagues, the Itsekiri nation and Delta State have indeed lost a great leader and may God give us all the fortitude to bear the loss”.
