The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Delta State Chapter, has pledged to vigorously pursue promotion arrears for local government workers in the state to a reasonable conclusion.
Fresh Angle International can report that the Delta State President of NULGE, Comrade Ziko Okwudi, gave the assurance Thursday February 3, when he led members of the state executive of the union, on a working visit to Warri South Local Government Council.
Comrade Ziko Okwudi, who explained why the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has not been able to pay the new minimum wage to local government staff, said the union was still handling the matter with the authorities at peaceful level.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Warri South Chapter, Comrade Raymond Emiko, earlier in his remarks, stated that Warri South Council was doing very well, because the Warri South Local Government Chairman, Dr. Michael Tidi, places high premium on staff welfare.

“Some of the staff, who are bereaved, are being taken care of. I am happy. That's why I say in Warri South Council, we are doing very well", he emphasized.
Comrade Emiko, explained that his leadership, has fulfilled their promise by empowering six women from different departments in the Council, with twenty thousand naira starter-packs.
He added that NULGE in Warri South Council, has also trained some female staff on how to make "quaker"(a local corn meal) to add to their source of income.
Comrade Emiko, noted that the most important issue staff of the council want to be implemented, is the payment of thirty thousand naira (N30,000.00) new minimum wage as well as payment of promotion arrears.
