Rotary Club of Edjeba donates food stuffs, other items to Delta Tuberculosis, Leprosarium Centre

Rotary Club of Edjeba, under District 9141 of Rotary International, on Sunday February 13, donated some items to the Tuberculosis & Leprosy Referral Centre (Displaced Persons’ Camp) at Eku in Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

Our Correspondent reports that the items donated include; three bags of rice, one bag of beans, tubers of yam, a gallon of palm oil, a gallon of kerosene, second-hand clothes and toiletries.

President-Elect of Rotary Club of Edjeba, Rotn Nicholas Otoboh, who represented the President, Rotary Club of Edjeba, Rotarian Lawrence Nwadiogbu, explained that the donation was to celebrate this year’s St. Valentine’s Day.

 

According to Rotn. Otoboh, the donation is one of the disease prevention and treatment programmes, outlined for the Rotary Year by Rotary Club of Edjeba, promising it would be a continuous exercise.  

 

Earlier in her remarks, Rotn. Okonkwo Ifonochukwuka Rita, noted that Rotary International, has been in the forefront of the fight against polio, assuring that the administration of anti-polio vaccines, will be sustained.

Speaker of the Displaced Persons’ Camp at the Tuberculosis & Leprosy Centre, Erere Oghenero, expressed happiness for the kind gesture exhibited by Rotary Club of Edjeba, saying: "We are very happy. This is to say we have hope in the Valentine."

 

Oghenero, disclosed that many children of the inmates at the Tuberculosis & Leprosy Centre, have finished their secondary education, but don't have the financial means to further their education. 

 

Fresh Angle International can report that Rotn Priscilla Nosegbe Chidi Ebere, Rotn. Nkeiruka Agoha, Rotn Ogunli Michael .O, Rotn. Oluwakemi Kadiri and Rotn. Esegbue Quincy .G.U. were among members of Rotary Club of Edjeba present, during the presentation.
