NANTA: Leadership controversy of Eastern Zone resolved
Members of the new executive of Eastern Zone of NANTA

The controversy that surrounded strategic moves by aggrieved travel agents to stop the Eastern Zone election of National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, NANTA, slated for Tuesday February 15, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, was eventually resolved as a new executive was elected after a meeting that lasted for over five hours and Hope Ehiogie of ENIVED travels, was appointed the Deputy Vice President of the association.

The National President of NANTA, Mrs. Susan Akporiaye, the former National BOT Chairman, Dr. Steve Isokariari, the National Electoral Chairman of NANTA, Dr. Dagunduro and the Chairman of the Eastern Zone Electoral Committee, Barr.  Mrs. Tari, who doubles as a member of the BOT, reportedly played vital roles in resolving the issues raised by the aggrieved members.

Fresh Angle International had exclusively reported the anger of some of the travel agents in the build-up to the election, over what they described as apparent exclusion from a repetitive leadership, who have allegedly contravened the electoral guideline, which states inter-alia: “Nomination forms can be picked up at the Zonal Secretariat and National Secretariat or requested for electronically from 20th of December 2021, a nominator will nominate whoever he/she desires to nominate and send the form back to the secretariat. The nominee will be sent the form for acceptance to contest and serve in that capacity by signing same and return on or before the 10" of January 2022 for zonal election”.

Yesterday’s election of the Eastern Zone of NANTA, believed to be the longest in the history of the association, began with the election of Treasurer, while other positions were unopposed, “because some aggrieved members were controversially disqualified”.

This Newspaper can authoritatively report that those elected to lead the Eastern Zone of NANTA for the next two years are; Pst. Chinyere Umeasiegbu; Vice President, Mrs. Amarachi Obinna-Ngige; Zonal Secretary, Mrs. Onyinye Okwara; Financial Secretary, Mrs. Ngozi Ifenyinwa Mbachu; Treasurer, Mrs. Ohakwue Chiejine Ruth Ekenedilichukwu; PRO, Mrs. Adaora Okon; Internal Auditor and Mrs. Foluke Abodunrin; Welfare.
