The National Population Commission, NPC, has disclosed plans to repeat Enumeration Area Demarcation, EAD in Warri South, Udu, Ukwuani and 167 local government areas across the country, because the last EAD in the affected local government areas, was not done digitally.

The Honourable Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, NPC, Sir. Richard Odibo, made the disclosure Monday March 7, when he led a delegation of the Commission on a working visit to the Dr. Michael Tidi led administration of Warri South Local Government Area.

“We have finished the EA exercise across the state (Delta) but didn't apply digital approach. About 170 Local Government Areas, were not done digitally. We are going back to the 170 Local Government Areas, to digitally demarcate them. Most parts of the LGAs have changed between when we last demarcated and now, so this affords us the opportunity to update what was done before now. We want to conduct a census that would be credible and accepted by all. You (Dr. Tidi) and the Royal Majesty (the transited Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli) did marvelous job the last time we came. This exercise is the bedrock of any political development. If you don't get your figures right, there is no way you can plan. This exercise is the foundation to census. We are doing the exercise all over again”, Sir. Odibo, explained.

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, in his response, stated: “The job we have on ground is doable. I already gone ahead of you, to drop other expenditures for this purpose (repeat of the EA). As an Economist, I know the importance of data. Warri South will give you the support. I will speak with the Royal fathers in the Local Government Area, to get their support. Let the job be done professionally, with fairness”.

Leader of Warri South Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon Sylvester Ijabor, Majority Leader of the Council’s Legislature, Hon. Tuoyo Ebigbeyi Awani, the Deputy Chief-Whip, Hon. Ighere Totor, Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, Supervisors in the Council and Head of Personnel Management of Warri South Local Government Council, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Igbrude, were on ground during the visit.
