IPAF To Urhobos In Warri: Warri South Constituency 2, Was Not Created For You

The Itsekiri Political Advancement Front, IPAF, has countered a publication by the, " Urhobos of Warri Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Faithful ", saying Warri South Constituency 2 Seat in Delta State House of Assembly, was not created for, "Urhobo settlers in Warri."

In a statement made available to Fresh Angle International last night, IPAF, declared that the ownership of Warri, has long been settled, saying it will not tolerate any attempt by individuals or groups to make reckless statement against the Olu of Warri.

The statement which was e - signed by Comrade Mene Abugewa Dennis, Engr. Tuoyo O. Blessing and Comrade Prosper Esigbone, Chairman, National Secretary and Delta Central Coordinator of IPAF respectively, averred: "Our attention has been drawn to a publication made on social media and UrhoboToday Online by faceless group and individuals parading themselves as Urhobos of Warri Peoples Democratic party PDP faithful. Ordinarily, we wouldn't have bothered to respond to the faceless group, but it is important that we set the record straight.

"The Itsekiri people are the most accommodating and receptive tribe in Delta State and this good virtue has been taken for granted by the Urhobo settlers in Warri. This all started when the former governor of Delta State Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan out of his magnanimity appointed Mr. Benjamin Okumagba as Commissioner under his cabinet and gave opportunity to them to produce the member representing Warri South Constituency 2 Seat in the State House of Assembly, Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area and Leader of the Warri South legislative Arm, among others, whereas the Urhobos of Delta Central have not been given similar opportunity to indigenous Itsekiri communities in Uvwie LGA, Sapele LGA, Okpe, Udu, Ethiope West LGA etc, where we have huge presence of Itsekiri as aboriginal indigenes as the Urhobos are never ready to share.

"Consequently, the statement that the Urhobo settlers of Warri, not Urhobos of Warri resolved not to support any or associate with any Itsekiri extremist or any aspirant contesting Warri Federal Constituency, Senate and governorship seats to the detriment of Urhobo people in Warri South Local Government Area, is laughable, reckless and unguided.

"They should reciprocate our gesture to the indigenous Itsekiri communities in Delta Central, before alleging that the Itsekiris are extremist.

"While we throw our unalloyed support to the Executive Governor and the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria in their determination to finish strong, we will not tolerate any attempt by individuals or groups to make reckless statement against the reverend Warri monarch.

"It is either you subject yourself to the authority of the Olu of Warri or leave for your Delta Central where you came from, because the ownership of Warri has long been settled.

"We submit therefore that we are carefully studying all the governorship aspirants in Delta State ahead of the 2023 general elections and in due time, we will support only the aspirant that have the interest of Warri Kingdom at heart and ready to give the indigenous Itsekiris in Delta Central their due political space.

"It is important that we make it clear that Warri South Constituency 2, was not created for Urhobo settlers in Warri and no amount of blackmail and empty threat will stop the rule of law as it affects the legal ten ward structure in the conduct of primaries and elections come 2023, because the era of lawlessness is over and the new era in Warri South and the entire Warri Kingdom is one with righteousness and justice, backed by the rule of law. The earlier the Urhobo settlers come to terms with the present reality, the better for them."
