Ruth Gender Foundation begins distribution of sanitary pads with students of Erejuwa II Grammar School

A Non-Governmental Organization, Ruth Gender Foundation, on Tuesday March 22, commenced the distribution of special sanitary pads to students in secondary school, with visit to Erejuwa II Grammar School, Ode-Itsekiri (Big Warri) in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

While distributing the special sanitary pads, the Chief Executive Officer, CEO/Founder of Ruth Gender Foundation, Mrs. Ruth Edema-Collins, enlightened the female students on how to manage their monthly flow, with the use of the pads.

Mrs. Edema-Collins, charged the students to remain focused in their education and not allow the monthly cycle they experience to affect them negatively, revealing how she was affected during her early days in secondary school by the monthly cycle, making her to rewrite of JSSCE exams, due to unavailability of pads.

 

Our Senior Correspondent reports that Mrs. Edema-Collins, promised to reach out to other secondary schools in Warri, Uvwie, Asaba, other parts of Delta State and beyond, saying the project is a long term solution to limited sanitary pads, because, “the pads will last for about two years and above, due to its reusable nature, if properly used”.

She disclosed that the next visit by the NGO, will be to Atuwatse II Secondary School, Ifie, due to the strategic names of Erejuwa II Grammar School and Atuwatse II Secondary  School to Itsekiri Nation in particular and Warri Kingdom as a whole.

 

While appreciating the Olu of Warri, His Imperial Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III for his fatherly support and the Monarch’s wife, the Olori, Mrs. Edema-Collins, commended the Management of Warri Community Radio, Rucotech Integrated and members of her team, for their support.

The Principal of Erejuwa II Grammar School, Ode-Itsekiri, Mrs. Esther Abrakata-Omare, applauded the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II and Ruth Gender Foundation, “for the well- thought out programme, in engendering good personal hygiene for young girls across secondary schools” and for choosing Erejuwa II Grammar School as the flag-off centre for distribution of the pads, calling on well-meaning individuals and organizations to encourage the Foundation.
