HOSTCOM Itsekiri Youth Chapter alerts NNPC of imminent showdown, over controversial sharing of job slots by WRPC management

Leader of the Youth Wing of Host Communities of Nigeria (Producing Oil and Gas) Itsekiri Chapter and PRO of Aja-Etan Community Youth body, Comrade Mene - Ejegi Gabriel Ajemijeroma, has alerted the Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Mele Kolo Kyari, of imminent showdown, over what he described as an insulting sharing of job slots to indigenes of Ekpan, Ubeji, Ifie-Kporo, Aja-Etan and Ijala-Ikenren (host) Communities, by the management Warri Refining and Petroleum Company, WRPC.

In an exclusive telephone interview with Fresh Angle International, last night, Sunday March 27, Comrade Mene - Ejegi Gabriel Ajemijeroma, fingered the Managing Director and Executive Director, Services of WRPC, Mr. Babatunde Bakare and Mrs. Regina Dolapo Falomo, respectively, for the, “insulting 50 %, 25%, 10%, 7.5% , and 7.5% job slots given to Ekpan, Ubeji, Ifie-kporo, Aja-Etan and Ijala-Ikenren Communities, respectively. This comprises 12slots for Ekpan, 5slots for Ubeji, Ifie-kporo 3slots, with Aja-Etan and Ijala-Ikenren getting 2slots each, while management of WRPC allegedly got a slot, from the 25workers requested by Kwale Gas to the management of WRPC. If that is true, the pipeline from our jetty in Aja-Etan, will be cut off any moment from now”.

Comrade Mene - Ejegi Gabriel Ajemijeroma, added: “When I led a protest in 2019 to WRPC, they acknowledged that they were dealing with five host communities. Just recently, we heard WRPC employed some workers. I waited for other host communities, they did nothing, so I led another protest. We were given 3slots out of 8 that came. Ekpan, Ubeji and Ifie-kporo, took 1 slot each, Aja-Etan was not given any slot. We don’t have problem with any community, we are calling on the management of NNPC to hold WRPC responsible, incase anything burst out”.
