Urhobo Youth Vanguard, UYV, has backed the aspiration of Warri South Local Government Chairman, Dr. Michael Tidi, to contest for the Warri South Constituency II seat in Delta State House of Assembly, DTHA, in the forthcoming 2023 general election, saying Dr. Tidi: “Has the right to transfer his PDP membership to Warri South Ward 10 in Constituency 2 and also has the right to contest the House of Assembly Election in Warri South Constituency 2”.
The group, comprising of, “young and vibrant Urhobo politicians, formed with the aim of developing an equitable society with the provision of social amenities, particularly quality basic education, universal healthcare and housing for the poor; encouraging the Urhobo and Delta State youths to be active in politics”, made their position known: “After much deliberations during the meeting held at BB Hotel, Décor Road, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday 26th March 2022”.
According to a statement made available to newsmen in Warri, Delta State, Tuesday March 29, the group declared, “Dr. Michael Tidi is a proud son of Urhobo Nation, with Urhobo blood flowing in his vein”.
The statement signed by Mr. Pius Efemena Miliky and Comrade Emmanuel Okoloko, Coordinator and Secretary, respectively of Urhobo Youth Vanguard, Warri South Chapter, noted inter-alia: “Urhobo Youths of Warri South Constituency 2 are solid behind him contrary to the claims of those who feel threatened by his antecedents as Warri South Council Chairman.
“Hon. Dr. Michael Tidi, is a proud son of Urhobo Nation with Urhobo blood flowing in his vein for his development strides in the area of education, infrastructure, health, human capital development and among others in Warri South Local Government Council.
“After meticulous examination of all the House of Assembly aspirants under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Urhobo Youth Vanguard, UYV, Warri South Chapter resolved to support Hon Dr. Michael Tidi, because of his wide acceptability across the local government and Constituency 2, accessibility, integrity, capability, credibility and he has Urhobo blood flowing in his vein, even more than his detractors. He is an experienced and competent politician to fly the party's ticket for the forthcoming House of Assembly Election in Warri South Constituency 2.
“We call on well-meaning PDP delegates in Constituency 2 and the good people of Ward 10 to support Hon. Dr. Michael Tidi, because he is a proud son of Urhobo Nation and because he has the requisite skill, human disposition, followership and right tenets for governance, to continue his good works if given the party ticket for the 2023 House of Assembly election to represent Warri South Constituency 2”.
