Exactly three days after a prominent Itsekiri youth and former member of Okere Community Development Committee, CDC, Warri, Mr. Ogbe Eke was abducted by gunmen in Eku on his way to Asaba, the abductors are yet to establish any contact thus heightening fears of his where-about.
Fresh Angle International learnt that attempts to reach his mobile line Wednesday (yesterday) after he was picked on Monday December 15, 2014 on his way to Asaba were fruitless, as calls put through to his mobile line was busied without any attempt of a return call. The line only managed to go through yesterday since Monday when he was whisked away by the unknown gunmen who riddled his car with bullets. The abducted Ogbe Eke was travelling in-company of another Itsekiri youth, Izuage Ofoyeju.
Unconfirmed report says a farmer in the community along Eku Road where he was abducted told military men in a nearby checkpoint that he allegedly saw the gunmen ferried Ogbe away through a nearby river, but his only companion in the car, Ofoyeju who managed to escape unhurt could not confirm the farmer’s account of the abductors’ exit point.
It was gathered that Ofoyeju who made efforts to escape was told by the gunmen that they did not come for him, but Ogbe Eke.
As at the time of this report, it was not clear if the intention of the abductors’ are political or ransom related, but there is uneasy calm in Warri amongst Itsekiri political class and youths on the development.
