Delta Governorship: Okowa promises an all inclusive government

The Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate for next month general elections, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, have promised to run an all inclusive administration that would be of great benefits to all Deltans.

Senator Okowa gave the assurance on Saturday, 3rd January, 2015, during the formal inauguration of a political campaign pressure group, Cannan Movement, at Asaba, Delta State capital.

"I desire to be that governor that will work very hard in an inclusive government to ensure that we overcome the challenges we have. It is going to be our collective will and resolve as a people to work together to grow and develop our dear state, “he said

While stressing that the effort to develop Delta State was the collective responsibility of all Deltans, Senator Okowa, cautioned political office seekers against creating disunity among the people of the state through unguarded statements, adding that anyone aspiring to be a governor through ethnic platform should instead go for Senate or House of Representatives.

The PDP governorship candidate maintaned that, "as Deltans, we must always think Delta and how to move it forward, rather than where we had the opportunity to be born, as our place of origin is by God's arrangement," adding that, "as a people we must continue to see ourselves as one, and remain resolute in our resolve to collectively work toward the sustainable development of Delta State. We can only shine as a people when we remain united"

Senator Okowa, who promised that the PDP will engagd on issue based campaigns, said his administration, when elected, would ensure that all sectors are given adequate attention, even as he assured that emphasis would be paid on tackling youth unemployment through the creation of the enabling environment for industries to thrive.

He said government will be ready to support those who remain consistently focus and proactive by creating the appropriate platforms for such, even as he noted that his administration will welcome constructive criticisms and suggestions, as according to him, that would guide the goverment in taking the right decisions.

While appreciating members of Cannan Movement for their support, Senator Okowa urged them to campaign vigorously for President Goodluck Jonathan to enable him continue with his Transformation Agenda, adding that the President means well for the country.
