A Chieftain of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Hon. Ezebiri Ebiakpor has accused the Ijaw National Leader and elder statesman, Chief Edwin E. Clark of turning the Burutu Local government council to his personal kingdom where all appointment derives from him.
Hon.Ebiakpor who is the APC Delta State financial Secretary and party leader of Burutu council area said the council area is under siege for the past four years with Chief Clark making one of his son the council boss and a daughter a Supervisory Councillor in the last council polls, saying that what they do at the council with the nearly N200m council allocation is just sharing the funds amongst themselves.
“There is nothing on ground to show for the huge allocations coming to the council. We expect some democracy dividends by way of provision of social amenities and their non on ground”, he lamented and said the Chief should be called to order by the appropriate authorities.
Mr. Ebiakpor who said there is now need for change disclosed that the APC is set to provide the change through their gubernatorial candidate, Chief O’tega Omeruo and called on all Deltans to rally round him to vote out the present PDP government.
What am saying is that Chief Clark accused former Governor Ibori of stealing so much money. Now his son is there and we cannot see what he is doing with the council funds. His son should show to us that he is a leader by doing things the right way. From all indications, the council has been on standstill under him. Nothing meaningful is going on in the council. As opposition leader, am using my position to call Ckark to order, telling him to know the council is not his personal property. It is owned by everybody. Now elections are coming, the right persons should be put in position of authority and we as APC members are available to make the needed change in the state. Omerou has succeeded as a businessman with many empires and can therefore be trusted to take the state to the next level of growth and development”.
