The Edo state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says the alleged multi-billion naira secret mansion belonging to Governor Adams Aliu Oshiomhole is in his hometown at Iyamho village near Auchi in Etsako West local government area of the state.
The Edo State Chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Osi Obih who distributed pictures of the mansion currently undergoing construction to some Journalists in Benin, accused Governor Oshiomhole of pretending to pitch his tent with the poor and lowly but in reality squandering the meager resources of the state on his personal luxury. “A drive round the premises revealed that if the governor chooses to goon with the project, Oshiomhole’s 10billion mansion will be the only and first All-Marble built edifice in Nigeria”.
The PDP chairman further noted that the governor who is seeking re-election and preaching against waste of public funds will have to convince the Edo people where he got a whooping 10billion naira to undertake such a huge mansion, considering his take home as a governor.
Some friends and aides to the governor who have tried to refute the allegation explained that Governor Oshiomole built the house 20years ago with his sweat.
Senior Special Adviser to the governor on media, Mr. Tony Iyare said the house “is only being renovated with the aim of constructing walkways and outdoor bar in the existing empty space. The so-called N10billion mansion is only a phantom existing in the warped imagination of the sponsors”.
Some notable pro-democracy and human right activists, including Comrade Kola Edokpayi, Pastor Olu Martins, former President, Student Union Government, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma who bore their minds argued that the issue is beyond party politics.
