Staffers of Ika Southlocal government council have impeached the branch executive of National Unionof Local Government Employees, NULGE over alleged connivance with the councilmanagement which has led to the non payment of almost four months salary, FreshAngle can authoritatively report.
Matters came to ahead recently at the council secretariat when the staffers held both thecouncil Director of Personnel Management and Treasurer hostage and immediatelyconstituted a congress where the Comrade Marcus Ugbaja led executive wasimpeached.
They accused theUgbaja led leadership of employment racketeering, enslaving them and acquiringpersonal assets with the connivance of management to the detriment of theircollective welfare.
While commending thestate NULGE President, Comrade David Ofoeyeno for ensuring that their March andMay salaries were paid, the council staff appealed to the state NULGE Presidentnot to allow himself to be swayed by the ousted executive, stressing that theybelieve in his ability to continually protect staff welfare.
Fresh Anglereliably gathered that the ousted Chairman, Comrade Marcus Ugbaja has declaredthat he is still in charge, boasting that no one can remove him.
Members of theCaretaker Committee mandated to pilot affairs of the union pending the conductof another election are: Mrs. Victoria Ojih, Okoh Godwin, Mathias Mwaebichi,Mrs. Tina Umeri, Mrs. Tanko Anthonia, Osu Anthony, Monday Dibie and FrancisDumbiri.
