Fears heightened last night in Ugbori,an Itsekiri community in Warri following gunshots that rented the air from directions still unknown.
A source in the community told Fresh Angle International that some residents of the community ran to churches nearby which they considered safe haven. The source said the fear was occasioned by earlier threats by Ijaws resident at the Miller Waterside to attack them.
The Ijaws at the NPA Old Port area had written a letter laying claim to Ugbori Community, asking the Itsekiris living there to pay them rent or face attack, a threat that has already been reported to the appropriate authorities.
Some say the shooting was carried out by the police, but no one could confirm those responsible for the shooting.
