Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan has cautioned political parties against hate campaigns and promotion of ethnic bitterness as the elections pool closer, noting that Rwanda genocide started with inciting statements.
Dr. Uduaghan gave the warning yesterday at the Delta Central and South Town Hall meeting with professionals, groups and civil society organization, held at his private residence in Warri, Delta State.
According to him, rather than engage in pull down campaigns, political parties should woo voters with their achievements, stressing that Delta State has been “the most civilized in all PDP States”, as a result of series of meetings his administration has held with various ethnic groups where achievements of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration were reeled out.
While linking the obvious drop in cash flow in the country to investors’ fear of the outcome of the forth-coming polls, Dr. Uduaghan disclosed that in the next two weeks, Deltans living in Warri area will be able to collect their International Passport in Warri instead of travelling to Asaba, the State Capital.
Guest Speaker at the meeting and Aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Prof. Sylvester Monye declared that the Jonathan administration has been under-reported in terms of achievements.
According to the former Delta State governorship aspirant, he does not know any President that has done well in his first tenure. “I will make bold to say that I don’t know of any President that has done well in his first tenure”, he stated.
He mentioned fight against corruption, reform in the judiciary, development in the aviation, agriculture, education, security and health as some of the vital sectors the Jonathan administration has impacted positively on the lives of Nigerians.
