The Director of Information, Kogi State House of Assembly, Mr. Aka Adebayo, has debunked speculations that Kogi State House of Assembly was shut down by the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
While reacting to an online publication titled "Kogi Assembly Under Lock and Key" Adebayo, told Our Kogi State Correspondent, Thursday May 12, that speculation was aimed at smearing the robust relationship between the State Executive and the Legislature.
According to him, Author of the report, “compiled tissues of lies and sold to the reading public”, adding that there was also false information that Speaker of the State Assembly, Prince Mathew Kolawole, had hidden the Assembly maze over fear of possible impeachment.
On why the House of Assembly is yet to reconvene after it adjourned sitting to April 26, (last month) Adebayo explained that, the current political activities leading to the 2023 general elections, was part of the reasons why members of the House have not reconvened for sitting.
According to him, the controversial report was targeted at the Speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole, who was alleged to be consistently involved in financial misappropriation.
