A front line Senatorial aspirant from Kogi West Senatorial district of Kogi State on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Muyi Aina, has promised the people of the district of qualitative representation that would attract the desired federal presence in the area,if he wins the Senate election come 2023.
He made the promise on Thursday in Lokoja while fielding questions from a 3-man panel during a Media Parley organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council.
Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the parley is meant for aspirants seeking election to the National Assembly from constituences in the state across party lines.
Dr. Aina, noted that the people in his district had been in dire need of adequate job creation, improved education, effective security, efficient healthcare and other social and economic development opportunities to boost their livelihood.
He pledged that,if given the mandate, he would articulate their needs through active participation in the formulation of laws, represent their voice and bring about much of dividends of democracy to them, particularly in the area of economic empowerment.
The aspirant, who disclosed that he was an arrow head of a youth enterprise innovation that attracted more than N980 million grant to the people of the district, added that he was instrumental to the establishment of an agro enterprise outfit at Obajana which empowered many youths on economic enterprise for self reliance.
In his blue print,a copy of which was made available to journalists, Dr Aina promised equitable distribution of projects and resources across the district.
He also pledged to ensure equitable access to healthcare through grassroots health system developments, including centres and micro insurance schemes, to minimise out of pocket payments.
According to him, he will reinstate the glory of Kogi West, by facilitating educational infrastructure and human capital development to his people among other promises.
In his remarks, the Chairman of NUJ in the state, Alhaji Adeiza Momohjimoh,urged more good people like Dr Aina to join politics and make positive impact in the life of the people.
“If good people shy away from participating in politics, the bad ones would always cash in on that to enter politics,” he said.
