The Deputy Controller of Corrections, DCC of Warri Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Edo Joseph Lucky, on Wednesday June 1, revealed that a new born baby and 927 inmates are currently at the Warri Custodial Centre of the Service. Mother of the baby is one of the inmates at the Correctional Centre.
DCC Edo, made the revelation, when a delegation of the 05 Initiative led by the Wife of the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, Wife of the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Mrs. Juliet Tidi, wives of some Local Government Chairmen in the state, Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, Head of Personnel Management of Warri South Local Government Council, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Igbrude, other prominent officials of the Delta State government and Warri South Local Government Council, celebrated the birthday of Wife of Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa, with inmates of Warri Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

He described the Warri Centre as very special and solicited for assistance to enable the Nigerian Correctional Service, Warri, take proper care of the new born baby and improve the welfare of inmates.
Wife of Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa, who was represented by Wife of the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, stated that celebrating her birthday annually with the inmates, gives her fulfilment, saying it is her mission to cater for the poor and cloth the naked.

The Governor’s spouse, who is also the Founder of 05 Initiative, acknowledged that most of the Correctional Centres lack basic amenities and encouraged the inmates to give their lives to God.
An Aide to Delta State Governor, Mrs. Tase Odibo, who gave an exhortation, entitled ‘You shall Recover’ from the book of 1st Samuel chapter 30, verse 1- 8, noted that only those who come close to God, will recover what God has promised.
Inmates of the Correctional Centre, pleaded with Dame Edith Okowa to use “her motherly passion and love for Christ” to influence her husband and Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to remember them for pardon.
Wife of the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Mrs. Juliet Tidi in an interview, advised the inmates to remain well behaved and emphasized the need for them to draw closer to God.
