The protest against Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL by "Itsekiri host communities" to Chevron's Olero, Dibi and Abiteye Fields, entered day 2 today, Sunday July 10, with the protesters claiming soldiers purportedly sent to address the situation yesterday, left after talking to them.
The aggrieved Itsekiri host communities, began the obstruction of smooth running of the company's operations in aforementioned fields in Delta State yesterday, over demands for basic amenities and the need to convert VTP 5 and VTP 6 trainees to staff.
The protesters, are being led by one Comrade Raymond Aderojo.
Recall that threads received from the aggrieved protesters, put their demands, thus: "
1. Portable Drinking Water.
2. Electricity.
3. Health Care.
4. Conversion of VTP5/OTP2 and VTP6 Trainees.
5. Review of undergraduate Scholarship.
6. Review of Community workers Salary.
7. Employment for Graduates.
8. Sitting of the Vocational Training Center in Warri to resume the VTP Program
9. Relocation of Chevron Operational Headquarters to Warri Kingdom."
An official of Chevron Nigeria Limited, who spoke to This Newspaper Saturday July 9, on condition of anonymity, stated : " I understand, there is a protest by some Dibi and Olero communities over water etc. There is no shut down. The issues are being resolved. Unfortunately they are buring the late Itsekiri RDC chairman today."
