Protest: Aderojo denies alleged damage to House Boats as spill occurs in Dibi Field

As the protest by "Itsekiri host communities" to Chevron's Olero, Dibi and Abiteye Fields, enters day 3 today, Monday July 11, leader of the protesters, Comr. Raymond Aderojo, has denied speculations that they damaged House Boats in Olero Field in the course of their protest.

Adejoro’s denial, was contained in a video clip sent to Fresh Angle International this morning, Monday July 11 by media contact (name withheld) to the protesters, who also sent another video clip, alleging “fresh crude oil spill around Tisun, Kolokolo, Bobi (Dibi Field) at RMT 19 or Junction 19 this morning”.

The aggrieved Itsekiri host communities, began the obstruction of smooth running of Chevron’s operations in the aforementioned fields in Delta State, Saturday July 9, over demands for basic amenities and the need to convert VTP 5 and VTP 6 trainees to staff. 

Demands of the protesters, is stated hereunder; 

 

1. Portable Drinking Water.

2. Electricity.

3. Health Care.

4. Conversion of VTP5/OTP2 and VTP6 Trainees.

5. Review of undergraduate Scholarship.

6. Review of Community workers Salary.

7. Employment for Graduates.

8. Sitting of the Vocational Training Center in Warri to resume the VTP Program

9. Relocation of Chevron Operational Headquarters to Warri Kingdom."

An official of Chevron Nigeria Limited, who spoke to This Newspaper Saturday July 9, in confidence, stated: " I understand, there is a protest by some Dibi and Olero communities over water etc. There is no shut down. The issues are being resolved. Unfortunately they are burying the late Itsekiri RDC chairman today (Saturday July 9)."
