April Polls: Okere-Urhobo endorses Okowa, Omovie

The people of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South local government Area, Delta State have thrown their weight behind Delta State PDP Governorship Candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the member representing Warri South Constituency 2 in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Dennis Omovie, saying they deserve better deal from the state government.

Their position was made known Saturday April 4 at the Orosuen Palace in Okumagba Layout, Warri when prominent elders, women, youths and Chieftains of the PDP in the kingdom played host to the member representing Warri South Constituency 2 in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Dennis Omovie.

President-General of Okere-Urhobo, Chief Emmanuel Okumagba in a remark called on Okere-Urhobo people to vote enmasse for Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Dennis Omovie and other PDP candidates in the forthcoming polls.

Spokesman of Okere-Urhobo, Chief Wilson Eboh tasked Hon. Omovie to address the non-payment of salary to traditional rulers of Urhobo extraction in Warri, saying their counterparts in other councils in Delta State get their salaries.

Responding, Hon. Dennis Omovie assured the people of Okere-Urhobo better representation if given another mandate in the April 11 polls, promising to back people of Okere-Urhobo to produce the next representative of Warri South Constituency 2 come 2019.

According to the lawmaker, if Urhobos back the PDP Governorship candidate, they stand a good chance of producing the next Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

Our Correspondent reports that the Delta State Commissioner (Special Duties) DESOPADEC, Mr. Matthew Poko Opuoru, Chief Bright Okumagba, PDP Chairmen of Okumagba wards 1 and 2, Mr. Femi Okumagba and Lawrence Akpoveso respectively as well as Chairman of Okere-Urhobo Youths, Mr. Cyril Eboh were among those present.
