Indications are rife that the one year wait for local government elections to be conducted by DSIEC in Delta State may tarry a little longer, Fresh Angle investigation reveals.
Fresh Angle gathered from political sources in the state that the delay in conducting the polls is not unconnected with the widely reported ongoing consultation between Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s faction of the PDP and that led by Ijaw National leader, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.
Fresh Angle can report that until the exco list is fully harmonized from the state down to the ward levels, local government polls will not be held. This is because, the fall out of the recent congress of the party has created a widening gulf which can trigger electoral violence if all interests are not taken care of.
Indications are that should Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan fully harmonize with Chief Clark’s faction , the political equation in terms of the party candidates could likely change the postulation which will not go down well with the governor’s loyalists.
