Peace Building Consultant and All Progressives Congress, APC Candidate for Warri South Consultancy I in the April 11gubernatorial and House of Assembly polls, Barr. Robinson Ariyo has branded the House Assembly election held in Warri as “the most fraudulent election in the history of Delta State”.
Barr. Ariyo dropped the hammer during a media briefing held in Warri yesterday after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC declared Hon. Godwin Toritseju Abigor winner of the poll.
According to him, the out-going Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and a serving Commissioner in the State living in Warri were determined “to take the Constituency back to the old days”.
He noted that during the election, there were series of attacks carried out by some thugs purportedly sponsored by the opposition, adding that one of the thugs was caught during the attack and handed over to the police for further interrogation.
Barr. Ariyo stated that despite the directive by INEC headquarters in Abuja that card readers be used for the election, the Commission Officials in Warri ignored and conducted the polls in most wards in his constituency with manual registers.
The rights’ activist further alleged that the card readers and incident forms were hijacked by PDP thugs to enable them rig the poll in favour of Hon. Godwin Abigor who contested the election on the SDP platform after he was denied the PDP ticket at Abuja.
He opined that ballot papers were thumb-printed overnight at the Warri resident of a Delta State Commissioner.
While claiming that the Police, Army and other security agencies worked for the Social Democratic Party, SDP candidate, the APC candidate averred that there was no election in the riverine areas of his constituency, but allocation of votes to Hon. Abigor.
He vowed to challenge the election result at the Tribunal and declared that he has a strong case to claim victory in the law court.
