High Court Ruling on Ogboru:

The shocking ruling byJustice I. Buba of the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Wednesday July 20invalidating the nomination of Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru as DPP candidate inthe January 6, 2011 rerun gubernatorial election in Delta State came as a shockto majority of Deltans, particularly DPP members who were eagerly awaiting theJuly 25 Tribunal ruling with much optimism, while PDP faithful who before nowwere treading softly following proceedings at the Tribunal are suddenlyshouting to high heavens.

An avid loyalist of ChiefGreat Ogboru in Warri South local government, Prince Charles Omadeli whileresponding to a text message forwarded to his mobile phone declared that thejudgement will not stand the test of time. He puts it this way “this is thesame judge that cleared Ibori of all the charges put against him, he did samefor Chief Odili in Rivers State. But I can assureyou that it won’t hold water. Today (Thursday July 21) shall tell my Brother”.

While same message sent to amember of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s cabinat as well as a Principal Officerof Delta State House of Assembly in the early hours of Thursday July 21 was yetto be responded to as at press time, the Chairman House Committee on Peace andSecurity in the last Warri South local government Council legislative Arm, Hon.Kingsley Tenumah in an interview declared, “it has a human face. The best wayfor Ogboru to go about his ambition is to pursue the April (2011) election. TheHigh Court ruling has made nonsense of the Tribunal ruling, because itsupersedes the Tribunal”.

As at the time of filingthis report, there was absolute disquiet in Delta Statewith politically sensitive Deltans waiting for political gladiators and legalpractitioners to dictate what will happen next.
