Out-going Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has commended over 10,000 ND/HND Graduands of 2002/2003-2013/2014 academic sessions of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara for making the Institution and their parents proud by successfully attaining their academic pursuit in the institution.
Dr. Uduaghan gave the commendation weekend when he paid a working visit to the Polytechnic during the institution’s inauguaration of projects/first combined convocation held at the school’s playground, Otefe-Oghara in Delta State.
He enjoined all graduands to set good example for the rest students to follow and be ambassadors that will make themselves and the institution a worthy legacy.
He said “ I wish this Polytechnic continuity, success in transforming our youths into finest leaders and enterprenuers and above all, responsible citizens who offer good promise”, adding “convocation should be an annual event that graduating students look forward to as soon as they graduate and not to be accumulated over the years”.
The Governor commended the Rector, academic staff, board members and non-teaching staff for their efforts toward making the the institution a success story and thanked The Ovie of Oghara Kingdom for his wealth of experience as well as Otefe Community for being good host to the institution.
While addressing the convocation, the Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education , Delta State , Hon. Charlse Emetulu applauded the Governor for providing fund to the institution and for establishing good standard of education in Delta State.
He also commended the DSPT Rector and Management of the institution for creating good learning environment.
Speaking in same vein, the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, DSPT Otefe-Oghara, Dr. (Mrs.) Clara Sogbaike admonished students to shun all unholy acts that would jeopardize their studentship in the institution.
The Rector thanked the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan for his boundless love, interest in the development of the Polytechnic and for appionting her as the first female substantive Rector of the institution.
Responding on behalf of the six awardees, who were bestowed with the institution’s award of fellowship for their outstanding contribution towards the development of education and also commended the Rector for her rear commitment towards the service of education, even as he promised to do more for Delta State.
Those presented with award of fellowship include: the former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, who was represented by one of his family member, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Stephen Orise Oru, Chief Ighoyota Amori, Senator-Elect, Federal Republic of Nigeria, who was represented by Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Uvo Gardner, Proffessor Solomon Okobiah and Chief Stanley Ogene Kowoda who was represented by his wife.
The award was presented to them by the DSPT Registrar, Benson Omonode and the Dean of Students’ Affairs DSPT, Mr. Samuel Enudi.
