The change mantra by the All Progressives Congress, APC during the campaign in the build-up to the last general elections should not just be a slogan, but a reality.
The frenzy that greeted the emergence of General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.) as President –Elect only lasted for few days as a result of the increasing economic crunch that suddenly enveloped the country, with a strange feeling of uncertainty beclouding both individuals and institutions.
In reality, the incoming General Muhammadu Buhari led administration has nothing to savour because of the mounting challenges unfolding in quick succession as the May 29 handover date inches closer. Some begging and desperate challenges the incoming APC administration at the federal level must immediately tackle head-long are: the increasing daily job losses, salary reduction in public and private sectors, solving the problem of huge burden of unpaid salaries of public workers, tackling corruption and worsening electricity supply, dealing with the rising cost and unavailability of fuel at filling stations as well as immediately setting machineries in place for the diversification of the Nation’s economy from its over-dependence on crude oil.
With these mounting challenges, it is only expected from Buhari/Osinbajo to run austere administration and begin actual work with diligence as well as speed to effectively tackle the current challenges bedeviling the country.
