Delta State-born, Collins Nwabueze Nsaka, has revealed that his decision to escape to Cyprus and seek refuge in the country, was as a result of pressure by his kinsmen in Idumuje Unor in Aniocha North Local Government of Delta state, to worship the ‘Nemonicha Oracle’ as Chief Priest or be sacrificed to the idol.
Nsaka, who made the revelation Thursday August 11, during an exclusive telephone chat with Fresh Angle International from his location in Cyprus, stated that he had to escape from Nigeria May 8, 2021 and arrived Cyprus the following day, May 9.
He explained: “I came to seek refuge in Cyprus. I am the only son of my parents, my people are idol worshippers and my father, was the Chief Priest of ‘Nemonicha Oracle’ before he died. Our culture demands that I'm next in line to worship and serve the idol, but I'm a devout Christian, I don't believe in the worship of Idols.
“I was compelled to continue from where my father stopped as Chief Priest of ‘Nemonicha Oracle’ or be sacrificed to the idol. I was advised by fellow Christians in my village (Idumuje Unor) to run away. I had to sell my only land and some inheritance, to raise money to escape to Cyprus, so as to save my life. I am still getting feedback from my village that if I return to Nigeria and refuse to serve the idol, they will kill me”.
