Iwere People's Congress,IPC, backs INYC's move on pipeline surveillance contract

Members of Iwere People's Congress, IPC, otherwise known as Agbakumassa, have thrown their weight behind the move made by the leadership of Itsekiri National Youths Council, INYC led by the President, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro, describing it as," timely intervention in agitating for Iwere People in pipelines surveillance contract recently awarded by NNPC Limited to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo."

The group after a meeting held in Sapele, Delta State, Thursday September, 8 said this was not the first time pipeline surveillance contract was awarded to companies belonging to Niger Deltans, wondering why so much controversy has been generated because of the recent contract award.

Chairman of Iwere People's Congress, Comrade Raymond Aderojor, told Our Senior Correspondent after the meeting that their support for the INYC leadership, was total and will be sustained until Iwere indigenes get "what is due to them in the pipeline surveillance deal."

Comrade Aderojor, stated :" Before now, Itsekiri leaders have been marginalising our people, but with the latest dialogue embarked upon by the INYC leadership, something tangible will come out for Iwere People in the pipelines surveillance contract recently awarded. "

He stressed: ""We must continue the struggle together to achieve our goal in Warri Kingdom. Communities that are hosting the oil and gas facilities, belonging to Chevron Nigeria Limited, NPDC and other companies, will ensure adequate protection of the facilities. We are optimistic that our people will be carried along in the entire process for comprehensive coverage of the pipelines, passing through our area and the daily oil production in our communities, will subsequently increase."

He appealed to any Itsekiri leader that also got part of the pipeline surveillance contract, to as a matter of urgency, "put Iwere People's Congress as their top priority, in order to have smooth safeguard of the pipeline facilities in the area."

IPC, also commended the President of Itsekiri National Youths Council, Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro and his team," for their high powered drive in making sure Itsekiri are included in the surveillance contract."

Comrade Aderojor, assured the management of NNPC Limited and other critical stakeholders in the sector, that pipelines in Itsekiri communities, will be adequately protected, with the cooperation of the federal government.
