Dr Michael Tidi, Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, on Tuesday, commissioned a nursery classroom block in Ogiame Primary School, at Ekurede/Ugbori ward, refurbished by the Council.

Tidi, who spoke during the brief ceremony, tasked the teachers and the community leadership to own and protect the state of the art facilities in the classroom.

He said he decided to commission the first renovated classroom block at Ogiame Primary School because his administration placed high premium on education.

He said the refurbished nursery classroom block was one out of the 20 that the council has earmarked to renovate.

"We are here today to commission one of our constituency projects. They are 20 in numbers but it may interest you to know that this is the first one we are commissioning today. As you all know, primary education is within the purview of the council. So this is my primary jurisdiction," Tidi said.

The Warri South Council Boss noted that It was proper for government to make public schools surpassed private schools in the state, adding that as a product of public school, the best his administration could do was to revamp public schools, starting from the grassroots.

Tidi commended Hon. James Urowayino Lori, the councilor representing Ekurede/Ugbori ward, for conceiving the project and ensuring its completion.

"He (Hon Lori) deserves a round of applause. He indeed keyed into the educational programme of our administration and we are pleased to be here today to commission this project," Tidi said.

Mr Mofe Maowe, Headmaster of Ogiame Primary School, thanked Dr Tidi for refurbishing the nursery classroom block, promising to protect the facilities in the classroom.

The nursery classroom block was equipped with modern chairs and tables, a Gotv cable dish, a DVD player, two beds, and a 32 inches Television set.
