The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State has recorded its first legislative casualty with the defection of the Deputy Leader of Warri South-West Legislative Arm, Hon. Emami Ibukun Thomas from the PDP to All Progressives Congress, APC.
Addressing a large crowd of APC members Thursday June 4 at the Warri Country Home of former member of the House of Representatives and Chieftain of the APC, Hon. Temi Harriman, the Deputy Leader of Warri South-West Legislative Arm, Hon. Emami Thomas explained that his decision to defect to the APC alongside his supporters is hinged on the philosophy of positive change and the need to galvanize people of his constituency to work in line with the Buhari/Osinbajo administration.
Hon. Emami Thomas, younger brother to the Akulagba of Warri, Chief Ayirimi Emami who represents Akpakpa Ward 6, Ugborodo in Warri South-West Legislature, stressed his good working relationship with his constituents and fellow Councilors, adding that after carefully analyzing the issues that led to his elder brother, Chief Ayirimi Emami dumping the PDP he built as foundational member to the APC, it became imperative to pitch tent with the APC to liberate people of his constituency and work towards genuine development of the Local Government.
Responding, the APC Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government, Comrade Felix Ighonmieyetan declared that with Hon. Emami Thomas membership of the APC, the chances of the party in the Local Government Area will be brighter in future elections.

While expressing delight at Hon. Emami’s membership, the Warri South-West APC Chairman averred that more heavy weights from other political parties are expected to join the APC in the days and months ahead.
Our Correspondent reports that the APC Woman Leader for Warri South-West Local Government Area, Mrs. Jagi Yaluwu as well as leaders of the party at the various wards in the Local Government, all of whom spoke in one voice, described the defection of Hon. Emami to the APC as a sign of greater things to come.
It would be recalled that days before the March 28 Presidential election, former Chairman of PDP, Warri South-West and elder brother to Hon. Emami, Chief Ayirimi Emami led hundreds of his supporters to the APC.
