Two robbers along with their accomplice, a tricycle (keke) rider at about 2:00PM today pick-pocketed a petrol pump attendant, identified simply as Miss Juliet of N19,000.00, along Airport Road, Effurun in Delta State on her way to GTBank where she intended depositing N15,000.00, Our Correspondent reports.
The amount is made up of her May salary which is N15, 000.00 and N4,000.00 intended to purchase foodstuff for domestic use.
Juliet who works at PaulEvans Filling Station located at Ogunu Road, Warri, told Our Correspondent in uncontrollable tears that she was not aware of the theft until she got to GTB.
According to her, it was in the process of depositing the cash tied in a white handkerchief that she started looking for the money. She immediately went outside, boarded another tricycle to Airport Junction in a bid to trace the tricycle that took her to the bank, but her effort was fruitless as she could not find the tricycle rider and his supposed accomplice.
She explained that she was the first passenger to board the tricycle before two men joined and that made her sit at the middle of the two other passengers.
Juliet added that the only time she had an inkling of what was to come, was when she wanted to pay her fare. According to her, the tricycle rider kept returning her money and asking her that how much was she giving to him. That made her open her bag on several occasions to give the driver the agreed fare after heated argument, it was during that episode that her money was probably stolen.
