INYC dissociates self from recent protest in Warri

The Esimaje Awani led Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC has strongly dissociated itself from the recent protest by some group of boys in parts of Warri, Delta State, saying the protest was carried out by elements" who are haters of INYC".                     

President of the Itsekiri youth body, Comrade Esimaje Awani stressed that those behind the protest against his leadership are non members of INYC, calling on members of the public to ignore them" because they are bought over to cause confusion and mislead the general public".                       

The INYC congress in a unanimous voice vote Sunday June 7 at their secretariat in GRA Warri, threw their weight behind the leadership of Comrade Esimaje Awani and cautioned against using the INYC to seek political relevance contrary to the constitution regulating its operations.                    

Comrade Awani declared that it was shameful to see some people on the streets protesting against his leadership when the body comprises of intellectual people capable of addressing its issues within.                

Our Correspondent reports that during the Congress which was well attended by executive and members of INYC, saw Comrade Awani briefing the House about the council activities during the 2015 general elections.                        

The congress also applauded those who volunteered to serve as security, ushers and other social services during the 28th coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri, describing their efforts as commendable. 

A member of INYC from the Warri Royal Family, Prince Stanley Emiko (junior) appealed to members of the body to shun rumour mongering, even as he noted that those accusing Comrade Awani of spending INYC money for his personal interest of spreading false rumour capable of bringing the Itsekiri youth body to disrepute.
