The member representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Joe Edionwele has condemned the practice of MDAs employing the services of job recruitment agencies to recruit workers for government ministries, parastatals and agencies, just as he frowned at the situation where the recruitment agencies extort the huge number of unemployed Nigeria’s through selling of application forms.
He described the trend as a time bomb ready to explode if not discouraged, claiming that during the last recruitment exercise carried out by the Ministry of Interior for the Nigerian Immigration Service, a whooping N1.2billion was realized through the sale of forms, yet only about 200 of the applicants were employed by the Immigration Service. “The recruitment agencies were organized to make money from jobless people, it is unfair. The last time the Ministry of Interior organized such, it led to the death of many Nigerians which would have been prevented, it is preferable that they demand for their money. They raised N1.2billion and less than 200 people were employed,” the legislator averred.
The Federal Lawmaker wondered why the department of Human Resources was created in every ministry, yet those at the helm of affairs prefer to indirectly collect money from the over 27million jobless Nigerian’s through job recruitment agencies.
