Students who do not pay fees will be de-registered- UNIPORT VC

The Vice Chancellor, VC of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Ndowa E.S. Lale (FAVH, FESN) says any student who fails to pay Tuition fee at the inception of every academic session will be de-registered.

Professor Ndowa Lale, made the declaration during the University of Port Harcourt Parents' Forum, UPHPF held at Ebitimi Banigo Auditorium on Wednesday, September 16, at Port Harcourt.

The Vice Chancellor noted that students are fond of waiting till their final clearance before they pay their school fees and henceforth such will not be condoned. He quipped that failure to pay Tuition fee at the beginning of every academic session will result in the student not registering for courses nor seating for examination in that session.

While giving a report on the state of the university, he stated that the Institution has 16 faculties, 55 academic departments, about 8000 staff, has graduated over 53,000 students since 1975, 40 years ago and their current student population is estimated at 26,000.

He stated that the challenges facing the institution are over subscription by students, underfunding, poor research culture, poor graduate harvest, poor maintenance culture, poor work ethic, safety and security challenges, out-dated curricula, poor municipal services, hostility from host community, inadequate classrooms and residential accommodation as well as delays in transcript issuance to their alumni.

He appealed to parents to be willing to pay more so that their children will enjoy quality education.

He also used the medium to appeal to his second son kidnappers for his release as his family cannot afford the ransom they are demanding.
